The Hat On the Magazine Wall
At first, when it caught my attention,
I thought it was merely a Cowboy Hat
And not worth the mention
Moments later my brain went 'snap'!
Then taking another glance
I had to admit it was more than a Cap
Too tall for a Derby, too fancy for Working,
It sported a wide red band and shiny silver buckle
And I finally realized with a 'silly me' chuckle
A Pilgrim's face peeked out from beneath
Hopeful, accusing, eternally seeking
It made me feel the rush of high sea waves
And the fragrance of newly discovered wild grasses.
