Rare Sight (a poem by Cheryl R. Creek)

Rare Sight

Green, blue & iridescent
Flitting thru air at top speeds
The glorious hummingbird
Spends its day seeking out its feed

Blink as they fly,
You might miss them
Their colors are designed
To protect them

But what of the life of the one tiny bird
Whose rare color acts as a light bulb;
A freak of nature? A purposeful flaw?
Can any white hummingbird survive?

Though you might well accuse this writer
Of dreaming up fantasticalnotions,
With righ hand raised, I make an oath:
This truly was its color; not just its motion!!
