Lighting the Way to Christmas

Yes!  Christmas is on the way and, for so many, that means blissful nights cruising neighborhoods in search of homes and lawns decorated with Christmas Lights.  But why?  Where did the idea of Christmas Lights even come from?  I mean, if Christmas is built around the story of the birth of Jesus and all that it entails, where did the idea of Christmas Lights come into the story?

Enter the Star of the East - the Star of David - the Star that led the Shepherds and Wise Men (Magi) to the Christ Child's hallowed manger and bedside.  There are many references to stars and shining lights in the Word.  The sun, moon and stars are called upon to "praise him" (see Psalm 148:3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars.)  And in 2 Peter 1:19 we read, "We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts."

So, the next time you're driving or walking along, enjoying all the beautiful twinkling lights, in all their many colors, shapes and sizes, I encourage you to remember how it all started -- remember Who came to love, to give and to Save.
You are loved - Jesus wants to give you a Light for Christmas - you can be Saved to an everlasting Life with Him - just for the asking!  It's a FREE GIFT -- and the blessings are all waiting for you....
